Teammates, Friends, and Family,

It was 103 years ago, on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, that battlefields along the Western Front in France fell silent, ending World War I. The following year, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first Armistice Day, which in 1954 was declared by U.S. Congress to be known as Veterans Day.

We commemorate this day each year to pay tribute to the patriotism and sacrifice of America’s veterans – generations of patriots who have dedicated themselves to the defense of our nation. Phantom Warriors have served in every American conflict from WWI to Operation Inherent Resolve. The III Armored Corps currently has 13,000 troops deployed across 26 countries, continuing the legacy of those who have heeded the call, while others provide support to Operation Allies Welcome, assisting healthcare workers in the response of the COVID-19 pandemic, and enhancing state and local efforts in recovery from the aftermath of hurricanes and wildfires.

People are the centerpiece of the U.S. Army. Throughout history, American veterans kept us free, returned home and continued to serve our nation with distinction.

Our veteran population is the largest since the Vietnam War, and so it is important to remember that an Army Soldier is a “Soldier for Life.” We have a personal responsibility to ensure every veteran contribution is recognized and celebrated.

This Veterans Day, take time to honor those men and women who have worn our uniforms with honor. Today, we salute you! Happy Veterans Day!

People First! Phantom Lethal!
