Central Texas College announced registration for the summer semester at its Fort Hood campus is now open. Active-duty military personnel can register through May 12 using the GoArmyEd portal while dependents and civilians have until May 16 to register. The eight-week summer semester runs May 13 through July 6, with holidays on Memorial Day and Independence Day. Classes are available in the traditional classroom format, online or in a blended (combining both classroom and online work) courses. Night and weekend classes are also available.

In addition to eight-week courses, CTC also offers three core classes as four-week mini-terms during the summer. U.S. History I (HIST 1301) is available Tuesday/Thursday, May 13 through June 7. Public Speaking (SPCH 1315) is Tuesday/Thursday, May 28 through June 28. And U.S. History II (HIST 1302) is Tuesday/Thursday, June 10 through July 5.

CTC is also offering several “two-fer” plans again this semester. Students can enroll in two courses simultaneously, which are taught by the same instructor, and receive six college credit hours. One “two-fer” plan includes Federal Government (GOVT 2305) and Texas Government (GOVT 2306). Other “two-fer” plans offered are History 1301 plus English 1301 and History 1302 plus English 1302. The English papers assigned in the class will fulfill the writing requirements of the history class. Each “two-fer” plan is offered in a blended format.

New this semester is free online tutoring availability. Students can access https://tutortrac.ctcd.edu/ to schedule one-hour appointments with a maximum of two hours of tutoring per day. After logging in, students can choose a tutor from the Subject Specialties list that corresponds to the topic in which they need assistance. They can then schedule a tutoring appointment by clicking the Search Availability icon/button, selecting Academic Studio from the drop-down menu to choose the date range and days of the week that best fit their needs.

Registration is available at the Fort Hood campus, Bldg. 3201, 72nd St.; and the Education Services Division, Soldier Development Center, Bldg. 33009. Civilians and dependents can also register online using CTC’s WebAdvisor system. Summer semester classes will be held at Bldgs. 3200 and 3201 and the Culinary Arts Center (Bldg. 335) on 31st Street.
