BOSS Single Soldiers Festival
BOSS is hosting a festival for single Soldiers, single parents and unaccompanied Soldiers from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at Hood Stadium. The event is free and will include activities such as competitions, door prizes, music, challenges, food and team-building activities.
Fishing for Freedom
Up to 300 bass fishermen from across the nation will volunteer to take a Soldier fishing, with the potential for a full field of 300 boats and 600 fishermen on Lake Belton during Fishing for Freedom. Each Soldier will fish with a volunteer bass angler, including some pro anglers, who will provide the boat, fuel and fishing equipment (if necessary).
The event is from Oct. 4-5 at BLORA. Boats depart at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area, at safe light Saturday morning.
A New Triton 2019 TRX189. valued at $32,495 and powered by a Mercury 115 HP engine is up for first prize.
The event is free and open to Soldiers from all branches of the military, both active duty and retired. Participation is open to all individuals who are 18 years of age or older or who have served or currently serving in our armed forces; however each team must consist of at least one active duty service member or retired veteran.

Fort Hood’s Oktoberfest is set for 5-10 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Phantom Warrior Center. The event is touted as the largest fall festival of the year and will include activities such as a pumpkin patch, bratwurst eating contest, keg toss contest, strongman competition, German festival costume contest, kids zone, inflatables, german style food, arts and crafts vendors and beer sales. Fall Demo & Sale Day
The Course of Clear Creek are hosting Fall Demo & Sale Day from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Oct. 5. Experts will demonstrate the latest golf equipment at the event, which is open to all. Attendees can save 10% on purchases of $50 or more. For more information, call 254-287-4130.
The Ironhorse Brigade has partnered with the Robertson Blood Center to host a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 8-9. The blood drive will be held at the 115th Brigade Support Battalion conference room, 2057 Battalion Ave. The blood drive is open to the entire greater Fort Hood community.
NAF Vehicle Auction
NAF Vehicle Auction is set for 8 a.m. Oct. 12 at Yard 26. Organizers will auction off unclaimed impounded vehicles until everything is sold. A standard live auction format with open bidding will be used. All sales are final “as is, where is, no warranty.” Cash, credit and checks accepted.
The event is open to the public. Cost is $3 (cash only) includes bidding card and auction listing

Army Ten-Miler Run
The Fort Hood Army Ten-Miler Shadow Run is set for 8 a.m. Oct. 13 at BLORA Sunnyside Pavilion. Pre-register online at Hood.ArmyMWR.com. The event is open to all. Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area’s Nature in Lights is hosting Saddle Night, a guided trail ride through a partial trail of lights, at 6 p.m. Nov. 9. The Great Turkey Chase
Pre-registration is available for the Great Turkey Chase, set for 7 a.m. Nov. 16 at The Sportsmen’s Center. Cost is $20 for DoD members and $25 for non-DoD members if you pre-register and $25 for DoD members and $30 for non DoD members on race day. On-site registration will be set for 5:30-6:45 a.m. on race day.

Nature in Lights
BLORA’s annual holiday light display, Nature in Lights, runs from 5:30-11 p.m. Nov. 15-Jan. 5. The event is open to all and includes Santa’s Village and Santa’s Depot. Discount tickets are available through Nov. 14.

Le Tour de Hood
Sign up for classes for Le Tour de Hood Spin Cycle Challenge at Abrams Physical Fitness Center. The event will run until Dec. 20. Participants will attend spin classes and complete the seven mountain stages of the Tour de France.
Each phase is around 80 miles. Participants will receive a prize each time they complete 100 miles. Complete all seven phases in the time frame and receive a T-shirt.
Cost is $3 for walk-ins and $45 for a 16-visit pass. Times are 8-9 a.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, noon-1 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9-10 a.m., the second and fourth Saturday of each month.
Need a ride?
Teen Taxi is an after school pick-up service that transports youth to designated Fort Hood Youth Centers Monday-Friday. This service is free and open to middle school children and high school teens who are eligible to attend Fort Hood Youth Centers.
Permission slips are required for this service. Stop by your respective youth center to pick them up.
Procedures for service include:
• Call designated youth center for taxi pick-up.
• CYS verifies registration and parent completes permission slip.
• Appropriate time and location of pick-up will be given to youth.
• Youth will be picked up at given location and delievered to designated youth center.
