Fight Night Watch Party

He’s back. Irish superstar Conor McGregor makes his return to the octagon Saturday and he’s kicking off 2020 with a welterweight showdown against the man with the most wins in UFC history, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Returning to action for the first time since October 2018 in the main event of UFC 246, the two-division champion from Dublin known as “The Notorious” one wants to make a statement against Albuquerque action hero Cerrone, who has picked up five post-fight performance bonuses in his last five bouts.

Samuel Adams Brewhouse is hosting a Fight Night Watch Party for UFC 246 starting at 6 p.m. Jan. 18.

MLK Observance

A Martin Luther King Jr. Observance is set for 11:30 a.m.-12:30 a.m. Jan. 23 at Phantom Warrior Center, Bldg. 194.

The III Corps and Fort Hood community event is hosted by the 166th Aviation Brigade, First Army.

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers is hosting a dominoes tournament from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 23 at BOSS Headquarters. The top three domino players will win a trophy.

Cost is free and open to all single Soldiers.

The single or unaccompanied service member category includes single service members, unaccompanied Soldiers and single parents.

Recruiting Fair

Get your foot in the door, join the Army civilian workforce at a Recruiting Fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 25 at Fort Hood Civilian Personnel Advisory Center.

Facility managers will conduct initial interviews and Non-Appropriated Fund Human Resources may extend tentative job offers.

All positions offer competitive salaries, free gym membership, access to community events and discount movie tickets.

Qualification requirements vary based on position. Interested applicants must submit a resume or paper application at the Recruiting Fair or apply online at usajobs.gov. Applicants must be present at the Recruiting Fair to receive on the spot interview.

Tentative job offers may be extended at this hiring event. If applicable, bring PCS orders and marriage license, DD 214 member-4.

The Courses of Clear Creek are offering unlimited golf until Feb. 29. Two options are available:

• Unlimited golf 1: Cost is $35. Participants can play all day. Price includes green fee, cart fee and daily lunch special.

• Unlimited golf 2: Cost is $25. Participants can play from noon to dusk. Price includes green fee and cart fee.

MWR Patron Expansion

The Department of Defense has expanded a selection of its programs and services to:

• Purple Heart recipients

• Former Prisoners of War

• All Veterans with service-connected disabilities

• Individuals approved and designated as the primary family caregivers of eligible veterans enrolled under the Department of Veterans Affairs Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers.

Members will be provided access to: Golf courses, bowling centers, restaurants, clubs, equipment rentals, recreational lodging, kennels, auto skills, and resorts. Programs and services may vary per installation.

Total Body Boot Camp

Test your fitness with a full body cardio and strength conditioning workout from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Iron Horse Physical Fitness Center. The 45-minute workout class is composed of a variety of different exercises and equipment that will help build strength, endurance and speed.

The class is designed for all fitness levels and open to all DoD ID card holders and their guests, ages 16 and over.

Winter Read

Casey Memorial Hospital presents Winter Read through Jan. 18. Earn prizes for reading over the holidays. Also, drop by the Children’s Room for a family movie on Saturdays at 2 p.m. or any time Tuesday-Saturday for winter crafts.
