Golf scramble

The Courses of Clear Creek will host the Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble at 9 a.m. Friday. This four-person scramble is open to all. Cost is $40 per person and $5 optional mulligans.

Samuel Adams Brewhouse is hosting a Fight Night Watch Party for UFC 242 starting at 7 p.m. Saturday. The event is free and open to all 18 and over.

Be Your Own Boss workshop

Take the first step and attend this 5-day beginner business start-up workshop from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 9-Sept. 13 at Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center. There will be three scholarships awarded to receive business coaching, which will be awarded at the Shark Tank.

The event is open to active duty service members, retirees and military spouses.

Business seminar

A Saving, Investing and Avoiding Scams seminar is set for 10-11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at Financial Readiness, Bldg. 36000, Darnall Loop, 2nd Floor.

Lori Schock, director of the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will be on hand to discuss: savings and investing strategies, planning for retirement, tips for avoiding fraud and digital assets/cryptocurrency.

The event is free and open to active duty, retirees, Department of Defense civilians, family members and agency representatives.

Disability awareness event

Soldiers, civilians, veterans, retirees, family members and everyone else are invited to “The Right Talent, Right Now” event as part of National Disability Awareness Month. The event is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 13 at Fort Hood Community Event Center.

The event is open to the public and will feature information about assistive technologies, electronic accommodations, disabilities A to Z, reasonable accommodations for disabilities, employment and benefits and more.

Sprint Triathlon

A Sprint Triathlon is set for 8 a.m. Sept. 14 at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. Participants will be expected to swim 300 meters, bike 12 miles and run 5 kilometers.

The pre-registration cost is $15 for DoD members and $20 for non-DoD members. The cost is $20 for DoD members and $25 for non-DoD members on-site on race day.

Individual medals will be awarded to 1st through 3rd place in all men’s, and women’s age categories.

BOSS Single Soldiers Festival

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers is hosting a festival for single Soldiers, single parents and unaccompanied Soldiers from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at Hood Stadium. The event is free and will include activities such as competitions, door prizes, music, challenges, food and team-building activities.

NAF Vehicle Auction

NAF Vehicle Auction is set for 8 a.m. Oct. 12 at Yard 26. Organizers will auction off unclaimed impounded vehicles until everything is sold. A a standard live auction format with open bidding will be used. All sales are final “as is, where is, no warranty.” Cash, credit and checks accepted.

The event is open to the public. Cost is $3 (cash only) includes bidding card and auction listing

Saddle Night

BLORA Nature in Lights is hosting Saddle Night, a guided trail ride through a partial trail of lights, at 6 p.m. Nov. 9. Nature in Lights

BLORA’s annual holiday light display, Nature in Lights, runs from 5:30-11 p.m. Nov. 15-Jan. 5. The event is open to all and includes Santa’s Village and Santa’s Depot. Discount tickets are available through Nov. 14.

Le Tour de Hood

Sign up for classes for Le Tour de Hood Spin Cycle Challenge at Abrams Physical Fitness Center. The event will run until Dec. 20. Participants will attend spin classes and complete the seven mountain stages of the Tour de France. Each phase is around 80 miles. Participants will receive a prize each time they complete 100 miles. Complete all seven phases in the time frame and receive a T-shirt.

Cost is $3 for walk-ins and $45 for a 16-visit pass. Times are 8-9 a.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, noon-1 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9-10 a.m., the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Teen Taxi

Need a ride?

Teen Taxi is an after school pick-up service that transports youth to designated Fort Hood Youth Centers Monday-Friday. This service is free and open to middle school children and high school teens who are eligible to attend Fort Hood Youth Centers.

Permission slips are required for this service. Stop by your respective youth center to pick them up.

Procedures for service include:

• Call designated youth center for taxi pick-up.

• CYS verifies registration and parent completes permission slip.

• Appropriate time and location of pick-up will be given to youth.

• Youth will be picked up at given location and delievered to designated youth center.
