At a Special Court-Martial on Jan. 16, Spc. John Mason, 2nd Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, was convicted of desertion. The military judge sentenced him to be confined for five months, to be reduced to the grade of E-3 and to be discharged from the service with a Bad Conduct Discharge.



At a General Court-Martial on Jan. 24, Maj. David Jerkins, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 479th Field Artillery Brigade, was convicted of one specification of assault consummated by a battery upon a child. The officer panel sentenced him to be confined for six months and to be dismissed from service.



At a General Court-Martial on Jan. 28, Pfc. Karina Flores Santos, 62nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, was convicted of one specification of attempting to distribute ecstasy, one specification of conspiring to distribute ecstasy, one specification of distributing ecstasy, one specification of wrongfully introducing marijuana onto a military installation and one specification of using cocaine. The military judge sentenced her to be confined for 10 months, to be reduced to the grade of E-1, and to be discharged from the service with a Bad Conduct Discharge.
