Sgt. Sameer Chalise

Sgt. Sameer Chalise, 28, was pronounced deceased Oct. 16 at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center due to injuries suffered Oct. 14 while swimming with friends in Mansfield.
Chalise, whose home of record is listed as Alpharetta, Georgia, entered active-duty service in January 2015 as a unit supply specialist. He was assigned to the Replacement Detachment, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hood, since October 2017.
Chalise’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
Spc. Luke Hampton Toomey
1st Cavalry Division
Spc. Luke Hampton Toomey, 21, was found unresponsive Oct. 18 at his off-post residence in Copperas Cove.
Toomey, whose home of record is listed as Lakeland, Tennessee, entered active-duty service in May 2015 as an infantryman. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since February 2017.
Toomey’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon.
