Army birthday

Fort Hood will celebrate the Army’s 246th birthday with a celebration on Sadowski Parade Field from 3-8 p.m. Monday.

The celebration will include a cake cutting, retreat ceremony, free concert by the 1st Cavalry Division Band, a virtual concert by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, as well as activities for children.

Women’s Army Corps 5K

The Women’s Army Corps Veterans, in celebration of Women’s Veterans Day, will host a 5K run/walk from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Lions Club Park in Killeen.

There is a $25 registration fee, which includes a shirt and bag.

Summer Camp

Fort Hood’s Child and Youth Services will be hosting summer camp for children from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Camps will run through Aug. 13.

Expired ID cards extended

In a memorandum from the Under Secretary of the Defense, dated June 2, ID cards that expired between Jan. 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021, are authorized for continued benefit use through Oct. 31, 2021, for active duty, Reserve, National Guard and dependents. Retiree and their dependent ID cards are extended through Jan. 31, 2022. This memorandum is an update to the previous memorandums dated April 7, 2020 and Sept. 8, 2020.
