Fort Hood Tax Center re-opening
The Fort Hood Tax Center will re-open for business Wednesday, June 10. Authorized patrons may use the free tax preparation service by appointment only. The tax center will begin accepting appointments Monday, June 8. To make an appointment, call 254-287-3294 or 254-288-7995. The tax center will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, through July 15.
Clients will need to call the appointment line to make an appointment. Appointments will be scheduled for 30 minutes. Clients will email all necessary paperwork, which must be filled out prior to their visit. Clients will then come at their schedule appointment time for an initial face-to-face screening to ensure all paperwork is included. Clients will then drop off the original paperwork and will be contacted on when to return to sign. All tax returns will be conducted out of the presence of the clients. Clients must wear face masks the entire time in the building. Clients must ensure that they are healthy and do not have a fever. Clients must sign authorization to allow the tax center to prepare the tax returns outside of their presence. Client drop-offs are scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and returns will be prepared from 1-5 p.m. The Fort Hood Tax Center is located in Building 13, west of III Corps Headquarters on Support Avenue.
Palmer Theater re-opens
Palmer Theater, Fort Hood’s very own movie theater, is open again, after closing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The AAFES-run movie theater is currently limited to 50 customers per screening. A face covering is required to be worn when entering the building and purchasing snacks, but is not required during the movie, as long as social distancing is being observed. Screening of Marvel movies will be shown this weekend, beginning with “Black Panther” at 7 p.m. Friday.
