BOSS Thanksgiving

Fort Hood’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers will be hosting its annual No Single Soldier Gets Left Behind Thanksgiving luncheon from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, at BOSS Headquarters. The event will include food, games, pool, table tennis tournaments, music and door prizes.

Christmas tree lighting

III Corps and Fort Hood’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m., Dec. 3, in front of III Corps Headquarters to celebrate the holiday season.

Flu shots

The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Army Public Health Nursing team will offer the flu shot to all Tricare eligible beneficiaries 3 years old and above at the Comanche Youth Center from 9 a.m. to noon, Dec. 4. A valid Department of Defense ID card is required.

Children under 36 months should visit their primary care manager for the flu vaccine.

Nature in Lights

Nature in Lights is celebrating 25 years at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. The annual Christmas light tradition runs through Jan. 2. For additional information, visit

Grant applications

The Fort Hood Area Thrift Shop grant application window will run through Jan. 31. Last year, the FHATS gave out $95,000 in grants. The grant application itself can be found on their website, under the “Downloads” page and the first tab is the application.
