Memorial/Dedication ceremony

Fort Hood’s Air Assault School will hold a Memorial/Dedication ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Aug. 20, at the school, located at Murphy Road and T.J. Mills Boulevard, renaming the school after Command Sgt. Maj. Basil L. Plumley, famous for his role in the Ia Drang Valley battle, featured in the movie “We Were Soldiers.”

Meet the Teacher Night

Meet the Teacher Night for Killeen ISD will be held Aug. 22. Elementary schools will be from 4-6 p.m. and middle schools from 5-7 p.m.

Women’s Equality Day

The 3rd Cavalry Regiment, III Corps and the Fort Hood community is hosting a Women’s Equality Day observance from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Aug. 22, at the Fort Hood Phantom Warrior Center. The guest speaker will be retired Command Sgt. Major Jackeline Soriano Fountain.

Strongman Competition

A Strongman Competition is set for 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Aug. 17 at Harvey Functional Fitness Center.
