Representatives of the Crowne Plaza Invitational Golf Tournament at the Colonial Golf Course and the Fort Worth Air Power Foundation visited Fort Hood April 17 to coordinate distribution of tickets for the upcoming golf tournament.

Michael Tothe, the tournament director, alongside Jim Thomason, member of the Fort Worth Air Power Foundation, met with Fort Hood Garrison Commander Col. Matt Elledge and Chris Osborne, with the Courses of Clear Creek, to discuss the donation of tickets – for its fifth consecutive year – to active-duty, Reserve, and retired military members for to the Crowne Plaza Invitational, held May 22-26 in Fort Worth.

“For us, to honor the military is really special for all of us at Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial,” Tothe said. “When we started this program, there were not many events on tour, if any, that had any military initiatives. Now, there is something every week, which is fantastic.”

In addition to having men and women in combat uniforms attending the flag on the 18th Hole Sunday, Tothe said they will also be giving away a home to a wounded warrior.

Previously, tickets were available for pickup at the Courses of Clear Creek clubhouse. This year, tickets are available online.

“We felt that by going online, we would given more opportunity for people to visit us in Fort Worth,” Tothe said. “We have not capped the amount, and to date, our numbers have been very positive given the amount of publicity we have done to date.”

To receive up to four tickets, for the service member and Family, go visit and click on the “Digital Sponsorship Brochure.” On the next page, click “Get Tickets,” scroll down to the “Military Special – Complimentary Any Day Tickets,” click “Buy Tickets Now,” follow the instructions and print the receipt at the end.

With that receipt and a valid military ID card, access will be given as a one-day pass at the gate.

On the Saturday and Sunday of the tournament, next to the clubhouse at the Swimming Pool Plaza overlooking the 1st Tee, all active, Reserve and military retirees and their dependents will be hosted with complimentary hospitality and tremendous viewing in the Patriots Outpost.

“This year’s tournament will host many of the top golfers on the PGA/FedEx tour,” Tothe said.

Current commitments include: Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson, Marc Leishman, Rory Sabbatini and Vijay Singh, among others.

“Our event has something for everyone,” Tothe said. “(It’s) a fan-friendly event with all the PGA Tour stars, lots of activities are available for all ages.

“For the golf fan, our course is easy to walk and you are always close to the action,” he added. “Parking is easy, and our main gate will drop you right into all the action.”
