The 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program has accepted the challenge to boost the overall morale and improve the quality of life within the brigade.
Each battalion was afforded an opportunity to restore one dayroom located within the barracks. The 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery, and 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery, picked a theme to catch the Soldiers’ attention. Many great themes were suggested, but billiards and movies were the most popular.
Two area businesses, Copperas Cove Wal-Mart and Ashley Furniture in Killeen, have adopted the 69th’s BOSS program and have been supplying them with the tools and supplies needed for each dayroom makeover project.
This project that 69th ADA BOSS program started can be an example for other units around Fort Hood.
Each dayroom makover was amazing. Both battalions’ dayrooms projects included new furniture, restored pool tables, new TVs and the smell of fresh paint.
Prior to the makeover, both dayrooms were barely used because of their worn down condition. Then we started working on this project. We’re hoping, as a team, we can boost the unit’s overall morale, as well as create support for the BOSS program.
