Douglas Edward Hale Jr.

3rd ACR

Sergeant Douglas Edward Hale Jr., 26, of Rhome, died July 10 in Temple.

He joined the military in August 2002 as an M1 armor crewman and had been assigned to Troop C, 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, at Fort Hood since May 2009.

Hale deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2004 to May 2005 and August 2006 to October 2007.

Hale’s awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Expeditionary Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.



Charles Paul King

1st Cavalry Division

Private Charles Paul King, 23, of Clintwood, Va., died July 4 in Killeen.

He joined the military in November 2005 as a cavalry scout and had been assigned to Troop B, 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, at Fort Hood in March 2008.

King deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from May 2007 to December 2007 and December 2008 to June 2009.

King’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation.



Lacy Ann Null

13th ESC

Specialist Lacy Ann Null, 23, of Olympia, Wash., died July 3 in Temple.

She joined the military in March 2009 as a mental health specialist and had been assigned to the 21st Medical Company, 1st Medical Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), at Fort Hood since March 2010.

Null’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
