Coming up in the next couple of months, Fort Hood’s Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers program is busy! Mark your calendars for Nov. 12-13 because we need your help. We’re hosting a Texas Special Olympics event here on post. With more than 300 athletes in the mix, competition is expected to be very heated. If you would like to take part in this annual event, give us a call or stop by.

How often do you get to play paintball with your sergeants major? Not to rub anyone’s nose in the dirt, but the last time we played paintball with them, they didn’t stand a chance. Command Sgt. Maj. Archie L. Davis Jr. eventually admitted defeat after he mentioned they originally had a battle plan. They all looked like a bunch of scared little girls when we came over the hill with three times as many on our side. I’m sure they wouldn’t want to lose again. Come support your fellow Soldiers on Nov. 18. We’re meeting up that day in front of the Phantom Warrior Center at 1 p.m., so be sure to come check it out!

On Nov. 19-21, how would an all-expenses-paid lake fishing trip sound? Well, it’s a reality, but one part is missing. It’s you! We have 35 slots left, but they won’t last very long.

Take a Soldier Fishing is a great organization. They’re paying for transportation, lodging, fishing gear, boats, food and more! All you have to do is sign up with the BOSS office. There is a simple paper you need to fill out and submit and then you’re good to go. Hurry though, with more than 50,000 Soldiers on Fort Hood, who knows how long there will be slots left?

Fort Hood BOSS is rolling out new events every single week, and you too can stay in the know. I send out a distribution e-mail to more than 3,000 senior leaders, Soldiers and BOSS representatives. If you would like to be included in my e-mails, let me know. Give us a call at 287-6116 or e-mail me at and ask to be added to our “distro.” I’m always sending out cool information that is not just for our single Soldiers. We take care of single parents and geographical bachelors, as well!

BOSS is on the web. Check out our website and print up a calendar for November. It’s only a few clicks away at We’re also on facebook at We can be reached at 287-6116. If you have any questions, comments or concerns with anything we’ve put together let us know. The great thing about our BOSS program is that its all about you, the Soldier! Your ideas, your views and our future is with Fort Hood BOSS.
