Tribute to Troops draws interest, questions

Saturday’s WWE: Tribute to the Troops event, slated for 1-3 p.m. on Sadowski Field at Fort Hood, has generated hundreds of calls to the installation’s Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation office.
The event, which will be broadcast as an hour-long special on NBC at 7 p.m. Dec. 18, is the third annual telecast honoring America’s armed forces. The venue will open at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
This free event, open to the public, has the community’s interest peaked. Here are some common questions taken:
Q: Is there going to be actual wrestling at the event?
A: Yes, WWE has some wrestling matches scheduled for the event.
Q: Where do we get the wristbands to stand in the special viewing area?
A: The wristbands may be obtained from each unit’s rear detachment.
Q: My Soldier is deployed and I would like to know how I can get wristbands for my family?
A: Contact your rear detachment. They will have the wristbands for family members, as well.
Q: What is “Hooah! gear”?
A: “Hooah! gear” is any attire that is service related, signifying that service’s spirit. This is not to be confused with patriotic gear.
Q: How long is the event?
A: The event is scheduled to last about 2-1/2 hours. It may last a little longer, depending upon the length of the wrestling matches.
Q: Will there be autograph signings at the event?
A: No, there will only be Meet and Greets with the WWE Superstars and Divas at locations around Fort Hood, before and after the event.
Q: Where will parking be located? Will a shuttle bus be running that day?
A: Parking will be available around Fort Hood in regular parking spaces. There will be a shuttle bus that will run from Abrams Physical Fitness Center, located at 62nd Street and Support Avenue, Bldg. 23001, to Sadowski Field and back.
Q: Who is coming to this event?
A: Most of the WWE Superstars and Divas, as well as Diddy (Sean Combs) and Diddy-Dirty Money, “The View’s” Sherri Shepherd, Cedric the Entertainer, “Modern Family’s” Ariel Winter, Miss USA Rima Fakih and Trace Adkins.
Q: Where are the Meet and Greets and who can attend?
A: There are several Meet and Greet opportunities, open to Department of Defense ID card holders only. They are:
• 9-11 a.m. at The Courses at Clear Creek featuring MVP, Hornswoggle, Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Tyler Reks and Layla.
• 9-11 a.m. at the Clear Creek Post Exchange featuring Edge.
• 5-7 p.m. at the Phantom Warrior Lanes featuring Daniel Bryan, Melina, Alex Riley, Wade Barrett, David Otunga and Ted DiBiase.
• 5-7 p.m. at the Bronco Youth Center featuring MVP, Chris Masters, Hornswoggle, Kaval, Tyler Reks, Dolph Ziggler and Lay-Cool.
• 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Howze Auditorium featuring Santino Marella and Maryse. The pair will also be special guest conductors for one special song during the Williamson County Symphony Orchestra event.
