Summer is almost here and school is almost out. If you’re looking for something to make your summer sizzle, then it’s time to check out what Fort Hood’s Child, Youth & School Services has to offer.

School-Age Care is offering 12 spectacular weeks of Specialty Camps. Themes for this year include activities such as drama, microwave cooking, aerospace, Get Fit Camp and many more. SAC will also be offering Garden and Leadership Camps. These camps are designed just for 4th and 5th graders and will give the youth a chance to explore their leadership skills and will assist them to learn what it takes to nurture and preserve a garden.

The Youth Programs will be on fire this summer with a host of activities to keep youth having fun in the sun. All three youth centers, Bronco, Comanche and High Chaparral, will offer different action-packed activities for teens. Bronco YC will host events such as 4-H fishing camp, Skate Jam, Robotics and Engineering Challenge and a trip to Hawaii Falls.

High Chaparral YC will host Summer Madness Basketball, Music Production and Understanding TV activities. Comanche YC will also host a Father’s Day Fest, Google Earth Scavenger Hunt and an open mic night. Comanche YC will present this year’s Super High Adventure Middle School Camp for youth 6th to 9th grades.

The edge program offers new activities such as ATVing, outdoor rock climbing, kayaking, cake decorating, archery, fishing, culinary arts and web design. The HIRED! Program provides 12-week paid apprenticeships in MWR facilities and is open to youth, 15-18 years.

Both SAC and Youth Programs are offering Super Saturday Getaways designed with the whole Family in mind. Youth Programs will be offering trips to Six Flags, Sea World, Schlitterbahn and the Backland Research Center; and will conduct a Military Science Day. SAC Getaways will focus on activities such as Promise Passport community service, Get Fit Camp, movie night and Better Living for Texans cooking projects.

Let’s not forget the Youth Sports and Fitness programs, which are also contributing to the sizzling summer fun. They are offering several specialty camps that put the focus on sports.
