Single Soldiers' Festival Work hard… Play hard… Relax hard… The 2012 Single Soldiers’ Festival is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 22 at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. Come enjoy a day devoted primarily to Fort Hood’s single Soldiers; however, everyone is invited to attend this celebration. Events include sports competitions, interactive games and free live entertainment by Killeen’s own, Down Siid! Training area cemeteries open
Families may visit cemeteries within the live-fire training areas on Fort Hood Sunday. Visitors must call Range Operations at 287-3130 to access the live-fire area. No vehicle pass will be required for Memorial Day visits. Guides will be available to assist Families and to monitor cemetery visits.

Commissary closed
The Fort Hood I Commissary will be closed Monday in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. The commissary will open for regular hours 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.

Army Community Service and Child, Youth and School Services will host the 2012 Youth and College Students Career Launch & Career Fair 9-11 a.m. for ages 13-22 at Club Hood. Career Launch includes workshops about resume building and applications, interview skills, career assessments, goal setting, scholarships and more. The Youth Career Fair will be held 1–3 p.m. for ages 16-22 and includes employment opportunities in customer service, data entry, retail sales, warehouse and more. Witness the mystifying entertainment of professional wrestling as it returns to the Great Place as International Championship Wrestling, in conjunction with Fort Hood’s Family and MWR, bring you Meet Your Match, June 8 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center. The doors open at 6 p.m., and the wrestling starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the event can be purchased for $5 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center the night of the event. Children ages 12 and under are free. The contest is open to active-duty Soldiers, Airmen, Reservists, retirees, National Guard

Freedom Fest
Celebrate the 4th of July with a bang at this year’s Freedom Fest, featuring headliner Kelly Clarkson. The event kicks off on Sadowski Field at 1 p.m. and includes a 21-gun salute, miniature stock car racing, 1st Cavalry Division Horse Detachment show, working dog demos, climbing wall, mechanical bull, HEB grocery cart races, concessions, Family activities, arts and crafts vendors and a military salute to the nation. Fireworks will light up the sky at 9:30 p.m. Individuals requiring accommodations because of disability, call 286-5342.

Every Thursday from 3-8 p.m., enjoy pool, shuffle board, popcorn and finger foods on the newly covered patio decks at the Backbone NCO Lounge.

The Child, Youth and School Services Parent Advisory Council welcomes all parents of children who are registered members
of CYSS to participate in the council.
The PAC meetings are held

CYSS Parent Participation
Parents may earn fee reductions for volunteering a minimum of 10 hours generally in their child’s program, or on behalf of Child, Youth and School Services. Points may be accumulated each month until parents earn 10 points to receive a 10-percent
reduction on one month’s fee for one child.
The goal of the program is to ensure consistency across all CYSS programs by cataloging meaningful participation opportunities, standardizing the point system based on participation, standardizing points required for fee reductions and the process to apply fee reductions to monthly payments. Common Sense Parenting
All parents are invited to a free parenting class each Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center.
The class is a six-week program, but you may join the program at any point. The class is open to all Soldiers and Family members. For more information, call 618-7443.
Parent Central Service hours
Parent Central Services, Bldg. 121, is open the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m.-noon. Walk-ins are accepted until 11:30 a.m. or appointments can be made by calling 287-8029.
Waterfest
Slap on the sun block and head down to Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for an array of water activities such as water wars, slip-n-slide, kayak pool, paddleboats, swimming, waterslides and more. Concessions are available. No military ID required.
Other park activities will be available, as well. Such as inflatables, horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking. Stay the night and camp at BLORA. Bring a tent or RV, rent one from REC or use an RV already on a BLORA campsite. $6 per car per day. For more information, call 287-4907.

The office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday.
