Integrated personnel, pay

The Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army, also known as IPPS-A, is a web-based system that will provide integrated personnel and pay capabilities for the active Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard.

The system will create a comprehensive personnel and pay record for all Soldiers by consolidating redundant and antiquated personnel and pay systems. Through IPPS-A, personnel actions will automatically trigger associated pay changes, which will reduce inefficiencies to better serve Soldiers personnel and pay needs.

The system is currently under development. The Army is overseeing the development of IPPS-A and plans to launch the first of five releases early next year with follow-on releases each year through 2017. The initial release will be comprised of a trusted database, nine new reports and a new Soldiers Record Brief. A team of Army adjutant general and finance corps subject matter experts is guiding the systems development in order to meet the human resources needs of an ever-evolving Army.

The Army is moving forward with fielding the organizations first integrated personnel and pay system. The Army plans to subsume more than 50 dated and redundant personnel and pay systems. Through IPPS-A’s functionality, the Army plans to allow personnel actions to automatically trigger pay actions. For the first time, IPPS-A will offer the human resources community the ability to access personnel and pay information regardless of a Soldiers component status in a comprehensive record.

IPPS-A is critical to the successful execution of more efficient and effective HR services. IPPS-A’s automatic processes will help reduce errors and streamline Soldier assignment transactions, particularly those transitioning between components. Soldiers will have access to their comprehensive personnel and pay information online for the first time, while providing commanders better access to their Soldiers information, particularly when leading multi-component units.

This comprehensive personnel and pay system will allow the Army’s human resources community to more effectively service the Soldier through consolidation and streamlining of HR business processes.
