Family, friends and the command team of the 1st Cavalry Division welcomed home Soldiers of the 1st Brigade Combat Team during a homecoming and uncasing ceremony Friday at Cooper Field Friday.

Col. Scott Efflandt, commander of the 1st “Ironhorse” BCT, led the Soldiers onto the field for the ceremony, marking the official end of their 12-month deployment to Iraq and Kuwait, with additional operations in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

These Soldiers were among the last troops to leave Iraq in December 2011.

During the ceremony, the brigade command team, along with the brigade’s six battalion command teams, uncased their respective unit colors, symbolizing their official return to Fort Hood.

Following the ceremony, Family and friends went onto the parade field to greet their Soldiers.
