Are you concerned about your child’s education and ensuring a smooth transition for each permanent change of station? Then go to the SLOs!

Your Fort Hood School Liaison Officers, or SLOs, work in conjunction with Child, Youth and School Services, the local school communities and SLOs around the world to address educational issues involving military children.

The SLOs act as a communication link between the installation, the surrounding school districts and parents. We provide information on the educational process and assist parents in maneuvering through the school system. While SLOs are not advocates, we are here to inform and link military Families to the individual, group or other resource that can hopefully address and resolve the issue at hand.

We also provide necessary tools to empower parents to be advocates for their children’s education.

Your Fort Hood SLOs conduct the School Transition Response Team quarterly meetings. The STRT provides a forum for stakeholders in the education of military children, to address concerns and issues to ensure seamless transitions and the best academic opportunities. If you would like to know more about the STRT, or become a part of the team, go to the SLOs for more information.

Your Fort Hood SLOs are where you go for school transition and education support assistance. The SLOs are the Army’s designated “point persons,” responsible for serving as the liaison between Families, local school districts and various other community partners in education to promote quality education and academic support for military children and youth.

Remember, your Fort Hood SLOs are here to work with parents and the local school community to address educational issues that involve military children. For assistance, call your SLOs at 288-7946, or email them at hood.dmwr.cys.slo.distro@conus.army.mil. You may also go to the SLOs in person at the Rivers Building, Bldg. 121, in Room 147, each weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

We look forward to meeting you!
